Remote income is often easy for the applicant to understand and surprisingly hard for a reviewer to reconstruct. A strong file connects the work relationship, the money, the person receiving it, and the reason the evidence fits the visa category.
Start with the route. Ecuador's official remote-work residence procedure and current eVISAS checklist control what counts. Do not assume that every freelancer, contractor, employee, or online business belongs in the same category.
Build an evidence map, not a document pile
Create a table with five columns:

The table is a planning tool, not a government form. It exposes a missing link before the reviewer has to search for it.
If you are an employee
Ask the employer for a letter that identifies the company, your role, start date, compensation, employment status, and the fact that the work relationship continues. Keep the relevant contract and recent pay evidence with it.
Make sure the employer letter, contract, bank record, and application use the same name and dates. If compensation is paid through a payroll provider or a different company, explain that relationship rather than leaving deposits to speak for themselves.
If you are a freelancer or consultant
Use a representative sample of current contracts, statements of work, invoices, and payment records. A single invoice can show that work happened once; a consistent set can show an ongoing relationship. Explain who the client is, what service you provide, where the client is located, and how payment reaches your account.
Do not turn a personal account into a mystery ledger. Mark the deposits that correspond to the evidence and explain transfers, currency conversions, refunds, or payments received through a platform.
If you run an online business
Separate the business's existence from your personal income. Depending on the route and current checklist, useful evidence may include formation records, business-account statements, platform reports, contracts, invoices, and a short explanation of how the business pays you.
Business revenue is not automatically the same as personal qualifying income. Identify the applicant, the owner, the payer, and the account that supports the financial explanation.
Document the work-location boundary
Remote work does not erase immigration categories or work restrictions. The Digital Nomad route is designed around qualifying work connected to outside-Ecuador employers, clients, or business activity, but the current procedure controls the details. Do not assume a local employer or local client fits the same route.

Include dependents and timing
If family members will apply, add relationship documents and a household financial explanation. Identify who earns the income and how the family is supported. Also record contract end dates, renewal dates, payment cycles, and the validity windows of any background or civil records.
When the evidence is organized, start your visa intake. A written first read can identify whether the main problem is a missing contract, an inconsistent payment trail, a category mismatch, or a document that should not be ordered yet.
