A payment amount does not identify the visa route

Receiving regular money from a foreign mission agency does not, on its own, establish which Ecuador visa fits. Start with the arrangement behind the payment: who provides it, what it pays for, what activities you perform and what the documents say.

The practical goal is a consistent explanation supported by records. For the broader decision, read the missionary visa guide. If your question is which route to prepare for, the $99 Visa Plan is designed to map that decision in writing.

Build an income evidence inventory

This is a preparation aid, not a universal government document list.

Record Question it helps answer
Contract or support agreement What arrangement creates the payments?
Letter from the paying organization Who pays, for what purpose and for how long?
Statements showing matching deposits Do the payments match the explanation?
Description of actual duties What activities will take place in Ecuador?
Explanation of allowances or reimbursements Which amounts pay expenses rather than compensate services?

Keep the terminology consistent. If an agreement calls a payment a salary while another document calls all service unpaid, flag the difference for review. Do not change the wording merely to make a category appear to fit.

Foreign pay is not the same as remote work

The published digital-nomad procedure describes remote, digital or telework activity connected to a business or persons abroad. A foreign deposit alone does not demonstrate that work arrangement. Official remote-work procedure.

For example, receiving overseas support while performing in-person duties at a local project leaves a different question to resolve than providing online services to a foreign company. This is a planning distinction, not an eligibility determination. Write down the real activity before comparing the digital nomad route with other options.

Check unpaid-service declarations against the facts

The religious procedure's published declaration addresses unpaid service and other work restrictions. Official religious-worker procedure. Do not assume a foreign payer makes those conditions irrelevant.

Where a salary, stipend, support payment or mixed role creates uncertainty, have the actual agreement reviewed against the current category conditions. Neither the amount nor the label by itself resolves that question.

Compare alternatives without skipping their requirements

If you hold a degree, include its issuing institution, qualification and registration status in your planning information. Ask whether the professional route is relevant to your intended activity and evidence. The existence of a degree is a reason to investigate, not proof of approval.

If the sponsor-based route is being considered, complete the sponsor-readiness checklist too. Personal financial evidence and organizational evidence solve different parts of the file.

Questions to send the paying organization

Ask it to confirm the purpose and expected duration of payments, whether the arrangement is employment or another form of support, and who can issue an accurate explanatory letter. Ask what happens if the assignment changes. Keep a copy of the original agreement alongside any later explanation.

Avoid requesting a letter that describes duties you do not perform. A useful letter clarifies the arrangement already in place.

Choose the next step

Start a free fit check with a short description of your activity, payer and timing. Do not place bank statements or sensitive documents in a public message.

For a personalized route recommendation, document checklist and sequence, see the $99 Visa Plan. For a selected category and assembled file, see the $199 Document Review. Legal interpretation and government decisions are outside an administrative completeness review.
