Common questions
Timeline calculator FAQs
How accurate is this timeline calculator?
This calculator provides planning estimates based on typical processing times for each step. Government workflows, backlogs, and individual document complexity can shift timelines, and we cannot predict a decision date. Always add a 4–6 week buffer before making travel commitments.
What does the official government response window cover?
Ecuador's eVISAS procedure allows up to 60 business days (~12 weeks) for the government to respond to an application (Cancillería eVISAS user guide, March 2026). That window covers the government's application review only — not document gathering, apostilles, translations, SENESCYT recognition, or post-approval cédula work. The calculator separates pre-filing preparation from this official window and does not promise a decision date.
Why does the Professional Visa take longer?
The Professional Visa requires SENESCYT degree recognition, which typically adds 2–8 weeks depending on the degree's issuing country, degree level, and current SENESCYT workload. Start SENESCYT as early as possible.
Can I speed up the apostille process?
Some countries offer expedited or same-day apostille services for an additional fee. Check with your local competent authority. Using a document service can also reduce mailing and coordination delays.
What happens if I get a subsanación request?
A subsanación (correction request) adds 2–6 weeks to your timeline depending on how quickly you can gather the corrected or additional documents. Our calculator includes a buffer for this possibility.
