Steps to request and apostille your record

1. STEP 1Request Your Background Check

   • Wyoming background checks are processed by the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). The process requires submitting a fingerprint card.
   • The fee is $15 for a Wyoming state check, which includes a Western Identification Network (WIN) search covering Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. If you also need an FBI check and it is authorized, add $24 for a total of $39.
   • For fingerprinting at the DCI office, there is an additional $5 fingerprinting service fee. You can also use local law enforcement or fingerprinting services.
   • Cash is not accepted. No personal checks or credit cards are accepted — money orders or certified checks only.

2. STEP 2Receive Your Results

   • Wyoming criminal history record checks are generally completed within 2 weeks. However, depending on current monthly volume and fingerprint quality, processing can take up to 5–6 weeks.
   • Results include Wyoming state criminal history plus WIN states (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington). FBI regulations do not permit DCI to conduct a nationwide check for personal use — you must request an FBI check separately.
   • Whether you also need a separate FBI background check depends on your route and current Ecuador eVISAS guidance — confirm before ordering. The criminal-record certificate must be issued within 180 days of your visa application date.

3. STEP 3Apostille Your Background Check

   • Once you receive your Wyoming background check results, get the document apostilled by the Wyoming Secretary of State.
   • The fee is $20 per apostille or authentication. Submit the request form (available at sos.wyo.gov), fee, and a prepaid return envelope or shipping label by mail.
   • Mail is the preferred submission method. In-person requests are processed by appointment only — call 307-777-7370 or email Apostilles@wyo.gov to schedule.
   • Processing takes approximately 7–9 business days plus mail transit time.

4. STEP 4Translate via EcuadorTranslations.com
