Steps to request and apostille your record

1. STEP 1Request Your Background Check

   • Request your Oklahoma criminal history record check through the OSBI's online CHIRP portal (Citizens Access to Criminal History) at chirp.osbi.ok.gov.
   • CHIRP is a name-based search — no fingerprints required. You will need to provide at least your full name and date of birth.
   • The cost is $15.00 per search plus a $1.00 transaction fee, totaling $16.00. Payment is made online by credit or debit card.
   • Oklahoma criminal history records are public records under the Oklahoma Open Records Act, so anyone can request anyone's records for any reason.
   • You can also request a background check in person at OSBI or by mail using the request form available on the OSBI website.

2. STEP 2Receive Your Results

   • Online CHIRP requests are processed within 48 hours or less. You will be notified by email when your results are ready to view and download.
   • Results show every arrest, prosecution, and disposition reported to OSBI by Oklahoma law enforcement and judicial agencies. The check covers Oklahoma records only.
   • Print your results for the apostille submission. Make sure the document is clear and legible.

3. STEP 3Apostille Your Background Check

   • Submit your OSBI background check to the Oklahoma Secretary of State for apostille.
   • The apostille fee is $25.00 per document. For international adoption proceedings only, the fee is reduced to $10.00.
   • Processing takes approximately 2 business days for both in-person and mail-in requests.
   • In-person payments accepted: cash, cashier's check, money order, credit card, or business check. Mail-in payments: certified cashier's check, money order, or business check payable to 'Oklahoma Secretary of State.'
   • Oklahoma Secretary of State, Certification Department: 421 NW 13th St., Suite 210, Oklahoma City, OK 73103. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

4. STEP 4Translate via EcuadorTranslations.com

   • After your background check is apostilled, submit it to EcuadorTranslations.com for certified Spanish translation and notarization.
   • Cost: $150 per document ($130 per document when submitting 3 or more). Price includes notarization.
   • Turnaround: 3 business days.
   • Upload a clear, color scan (300 DPI minimum) of the full apostilled document — including the apostille certificate itself.
